Blaine Dahlseide
Auditor
Hello Brothers and Sisters, my name is Blaine Dahlseide and I am a 3rd generation Operating Engineer of Local 955. I joined 955 back in July of 1999, the best career move I have ever made, and I have never looked back ever since.
When I started working out of the union hall I went to work in the piling division for 4 years. After that, I started to get into new construction and some of the projects I have worked on was Albian Sands in Fort McMurray for Fluor Daniel’s.
Also, Air Liquid in Fort Saskatchewan for PCL. Then UE1 at Syncrude; at this site I was with Badger Daylighting as a Swamper. Then I got onto a zoom boom working on the furnace with the Bricklayers.
Another great project I got on was out at Keephills K3, first for Graham Construction for the civil works. Then I got hired on with Alstom Power building the boiler. Working out west of Edmonton helped me make my decision to move out to Stony Plain. I also have 7 years’ experience working in maintenance at Syncrude and Suncor for Jacob’s Industrial. For the last 5 years I have been working on a mobile crusher for Heidelberg Materials, running the tower.
Back in 2007, I was appointed by my co-workers to take a Job Steward role. I was asked by the Business Agent if I would accept the role. I took this role and took it seriously, to address any concerns that our members had. It has been rewarding and challenging at times. With my experience, I was asked by my Business Agent back in 2021 if I would sit at the table with him and another Job Steward to help in negotiating our collective agreement with Heidelberg Materials. Then again in 2024, we went back to the table to negotiate our current collective agreement. Also, in 2024 I was appointed to the Executive Board as an Auditor; a role I have now and am seeking to continue keeping, with your vote. I can say, I do and will continue to work diligently for all our members in good faith.
In my free time, some of my personal hobbies are exploring the ravine along the North Saskatchewan River either on foot or my mountain bike. Another one is loading up the Skidoo to hit the trails in the winter, riding with friends sure helps pass the long winters we have here.
This is a little about me and my experience since I have joined 955. I have enjoyed every moment of it and I look forward to working for and with all my union brothers and sisters.
